Client Testimonials
SAN JOSE FIRE FIGHTERS, LOCAL 230
Most people would agree, the work of fire fighters is like no other. Because of this fact, providing effective legal services to fire fighters requires more than just knowing the relevant law. Your attorney has to know the people that are doing the work and the conditions they are enduring. While representing the men and women of San Jose Fire Fighters Local 230 for two decades, I worked closely with the law firm of Wylie, McBride, Platten & Renner (WMPR) and specifically Christopher Platten. Mr. Platten, took the time to come to our stations and meet the firefighters. He took the time to ride along with us and see first hand what we do. He felt the heat, he felt the pressure, he felt the exhilaration and the pain and sorrow. He came to know what our fire service family is about and in fact became a part of it in San Jose. In doing so Mr Platten and in-fact the WMPR firm expanded their frame of reference allowing them to represented SJFF with unprecedented expertise. Without a doubt the Law firm of WMPR has been a vital partner in Local 230's efforts to get and protect the wages, benefits and safe working conditions for all SJFF. They achieved this by making a tangible and ongoing commitment to the members of San Jose Fire Fighters Local 230.

OAKLAND FIRE FIGHTERS, LOCAL 55
During my tenure as a Union Leader, we have been fortunate to have used Chris as lead counsel through several MOU negotiations. He has worked closely with us to put our needs as the clients first. He is always very engaged in the process, thinking of creative ways to reach our goals. We’ve always found Chris to be thoroughly prepared, informed and up to date on current issues affecting Labor Relations in our industry. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him and his firm.
As a firefighter, I found myself in a difficult position at work as I was being harassed and threatened. Management turned a blind eye and encouraged me to resign. After an explosive device went off at my house I went to several lawyers, one of whom advised me to resign and another thought I had a case but wouldn’t take as he knew some of the people involved and characterized them as ruthless. A firefighter friend introduced me to Chris Platten. Chris listened carefully to my issue and said he would advise me at no charge, stating if it became a legal matter, he would take the case, which it did. Chris, his former associate Amy Sekany and his paralegal Linda Todd were the main players and they all worked tirelessly with me on my case. My case resulted in a trial against the employer. We won. I was vindicated of my wrongful termination and received financial compensation. Chris Platten and his firm were able to recoup their legal fees from the City. I am no longer a firefighter, but I have several small businesses and couldn’t be happier thanks to Chris, Amy, Linda and the entire firm. I will never forget how Chris fought for me and will be indebted to him for all time. If you go to Chris Platten and he can help you, he will. You won’t find a better lawyer and he is one of the finest individuals I’ve had the pleasure to know. His only flaw is he does root for the Green Bay Packers. I met Chris as a client and now call him a friend.
